Liability for content

The contents of these pages have been created with the utmost care. However, we cannot guarantee their accuracy, completeness or timeliness.

Liability for links

Responsibility for the content of external links to third-party websites lies solely with the operators of the linked pages. We were not aware of any legal violations at the time of linking.

Copyright and software licence

The contents of these pages are subject to German copyright law. Any use, reproduction or modification of copyright-protected material beyond the limits of applicable law requires the prior consent of the respective rights holder.

The VTerminal software itself is a separate matter: it is free software licensed under the GNU General Public License, version 3. The licence governs the software, not the text and images on this website.

Privacy notice

This notice covers this project page only. VTerminal the application is described separately below, because it behaves quite differently from a website.

In short

This page sets no cookies, uses no analytics and no tracking, contains no forms, and loads nothing from a third party — fonts, styles and images are all served from this domain. Nothing is written to or read from your device, which is why you are not being asked for consent. The one unavoidable processing is the web server's access log, described below.

Controller

The controller within the meaning of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is:

What is processed when you visit

This site is a set of static files with no application server and no database. When your browser requests a page, the hosting provider's web server records the request. GitHub states that “when a GitHub Pages site is visited, the visitor's IP address is logged and stored for security purposes, regardless of whether the visitor has signed into GitHub or not”. Such log data typically comprises:

  • your IP address
  • the date and time of the request
  • the file or page requested
  • the browser and operating system reported by your browser
  • the referring page, where your browser sends one

The purpose is delivering the page and protecting the service against attack and abuse. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR; our legitimate interest is operating this page securely and reliably.

We should be precise about one thing: we cannot see this data. GitHub Pages provides no log access, no analytics and no visitor statistics to the owner of a site, so Veviad is unable to read, export or erase these entries. Retention is determined by GitHub. If you wish to exercise rights specifically over that log data, a request to GitHub will be more effective than one to us, and we will support you in making it.

Hosting, and transfer to the USA

This page is hosted on GitHub Pages, operated by GitHub, Inc., 88 Colin P. Kelly Jr. Street, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA — a subsidiary of Microsoft. Serving the page therefore involves a transfer of the above log data to the United States.

GitHub has certified to the U.S. Department of Commerce that it adheres to the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework Principles, and additionally relies on the European Commission's standard contractual clauses for transfers to countries without an adequacy decision. See GitHub's privacy statement.

Domain name resolution (Cloudflare)

The authoritative DNS for veviad.com is operated by Cloudflare, Inc. Cloudflare answers the DNS lookup that translates vterminal.veviad.com into an address, which is normally performed by your provider's or your chosen resolver rather than by your browser directly.

This hostname is configured in DNS-only mode, meaning Cloudflare is not a proxy or content delivery network in front of this page. It does not terminate the encrypted connection and does not receive the requests you make to this site; those go to GitHub. We mention this because a Cloudflare-proxied site would need to describe a considerably broader processing activity here.

No cookies, and why there is no consent banner

Section 25 of the German Telecommunications Digital Services Data Protection Act (TDDDG) requires consent before information is stored on, or read from, your terminal equipment unless it is strictly necessary. This page does neither: it sets no cookies and writes nothing to local storage, session storage or any other browser store. No consent is therefore required, and a banner asking for it would be meaningless.

The two small scripts on the home page run entirely in your browser and send nothing anywhere. One opens and closes the navigation menu; the other copies a command to your clipboard when you click the copy button.

Fonts and other assets are self-hosted

The Anton, Inter and JetBrains Mono web fonts, the stylesheet and all images are delivered from this domain. Nothing is fetched from Google Fonts, a CDN or any other external provider, so no request from your browser discloses your IP address to a third party in order to render this page.

Links to other sites

This page links to GitHub, LinkedIn and veviad.com. Following such a link takes you to a service operated by someone else, and from that point their own privacy notice and processing apply. No data is transmitted to them until you actually click.

The VTerminal application is not this website

VTerminal runs on your own Mac. Its default model performs inference locally, in the application's own process, and no terminal content, command or file is sent anywhere in that configuration. If you choose a cloud model and enter your own API key, your prompts go directly from your machine to that provider under their terms; Veviad does not operate an intermediary service and receives nothing. Model downloads are fetched from Hugging Face. The application contains no telemetry or usage analytics.

Your rights

You have the right to access (Art. 15 GDPR), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and to object to processing based on legitimate interests (Art. 21). Requests to hello@veviad.com — noting the limitation described under the access log above.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. The authority competent for us is the Bavarian Data Protection Authority (Bayerisches Landesamt für Datenschutzaufsicht, Promenade 18, 91522 Ansbach, Germany).

Changes

We will update this notice if the page changes in a way that affects it — for instance if analytics, a form or an embedded third-party resource were ever added. The date at the top reflects the current version, and the full history is visible in the repository.
